Chapman is the CEO of a software development company based in Canada. He has been volunteering with Scouts Canada for over 12 years, starting as a cub scout leader when his two boys were younger.
Inspiration for his first book came from the youth that he worked with in the Scouting program, seeing younger teens grow and develop into competent young adults with loads of outdoor skills and enthusiasm for adventure.
Chapman helps run the Vancouver Island Scout Summer Camp with a team of other dedicated volunteers and wrote his first book as a short story to fill a gap in the activity program one evening. The story Missing on Mystery Mountain was well received by the campers and became the foundation for his first foray into writing. He lives on Vancouver Island with his partner, family and two wonderful dogs and still enjoys an active outdoor lifestyle.
